In under two months using the XNA and MonoGame framework, I built a functioning 3D game engine from scratch in C#. The game engine has working 3D physics, a quick 3D rendering system, and a user interface layer for simple UI elements like buttons, labels, and images. Take a look at the game I made with the game engine, MICROCOSM. In Microcosm, you play as a shrunken engineer trying to survive the onslaught of office supplies in a zero gravity cardboard box for as long as possible.
